OLD PARAMALI

We wake in the wee hours of the morning, as the early light begins to tinge the mists hanging in the valley below.  The day creatures are beginning to stir, but all is very quiet and calm.  We sit sipping our coffee as we pack and prepare for our short photographic trip to Old Paramali, as Lilly slowly wakens and begins to get excited as she realizes we are going on a road trip.  She loves the car and new places, and she bounces on her hind legs in joyful anticipation.

We first came across the ruins of Old Paramali in March when we extended our visit to the old olive trees of Paramali by driving on north up a rough farm road, and vowed to return for a photographic experience.

Back then the hills were green and full of colourful splashes of wild flowers, now they will be dry, dusty, and brown, parched under the summer sun and whipped by the hot breezes blowing through the valley.

Paramali is a small village in the Limassol District about 2.5 km east of Avdimou, and its district covers an area running north from the coast, falling approximately half in and half out of the B.O.T. of Akrotiri and Dhekelia (British Overseas Territory).
