ABOUT PAPHOS
The countryside around Paphos is among some of the most beautiful on the island and, with a history dating back thousands of years it is a perfect holiday destination with lots to see. The small fishing harbour is a very charming focal point where you will also find plenty of tavernas and cafes, all serving either traditional local dishes or, if this is not to your taste there are plenty of fast food outlets too.
The Paphos fort located at the end of the harbour was built in the 14th century by the Lusignans. It is open to the public for viewing and gives a magnificent view of the harbour and Kato Paphos from the top. Paphos is also renowned as the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, it is perhaps because of this that many conquerors and ancient aristocrats have sought to experience Paphos for themselves. Another magnificent site to see in Paphos is The Tombs of The Kings which is said to be where such royal figures were buried. It offers a wonderful attraction for both archaeologists and holiday makers alike.
